About

My name is Emily but I am guessing you already know that! I currently live in Norfolk, but I have also lived in many other European countries. I have three (human) daughters, a chihuahua who aims to make an appearance in every Teams meeting and lots of other animals including chickens and tortoises.

I started supporting people to breastfeed in the summer of 2016, when my eldest child was a baby. I quickly decided my aim was to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant so I completed a degree in health sciences, trained as a breastfeeding counsellor with a large international organisation and finally qualified as an IBCLC after over a thousand hours of logged support and many additional training courses.

Since then I have worked for charity organisations and as a private practitioner for the NHS. I love governance and advocacy work so I am involved in projects at national and international level. I strongly believe in women’s choice and that breastfeeding is a public health issue, not something where blame can ever be placed on mothers in the society we live in.

My specialist subject is breastfeeding and autism, both supporting those feeding an autistic child and supporting an autistic or ADHD parent to breastfeed. I sometimes speak at events about these subjects. I am also passionate about making breastfeeding more accessible, especially for those who have a lower chance of breastfeeding, including teen parents and those in deprived areas of the UK. I love to support complex cases but I am equally happy to help with straightforward support too.

I am currently completing a PhD focusing on breastfeeding support in the UK, alongside NHS training, governance and advocacy work. Due to this, I don’t have capacity to offer 1-1 support/private consultations.
